Event Terms & Conditions

These Terms govern participation in events, hackathons, workshops, demo days, accelerator programs and other activities organised under the HackerX brand.

HackerX is operated by RemoteSkills Ltd (RC No: 1859373).

Throughout these Terms, "HackerX", "we", "our", and "the Organisers" refer to RemoteSkills Ltd together with its employees, contractors, volunteers, sponsors and authorised event partners.

Participation in any HackerX event constitutes acceptance of these Terms.

1. Eligibility

Participants must satisfy any eligibility requirements communicated for a specific event.

Where participants are under 18 years of age, parental or guardian consent may be required before participation.

2. Participant Conduct

Participants agree to:

  • behave respectfully toward other participants, organisers and sponsors
  • comply with venue rules and safety instructions
  • avoid harassment, discrimination or abusive behaviour
  • refrain from bringing prohibited items including illegal drugs or weapons
  • comply with applicable laws throughout the event

The Organisers reserve the right to remove participants whose behaviour is disruptive, unsafe or inconsistent with these Terms.

3. Participation at Your Own Risk

Participation in HackerX events is voluntary.

Participants accept responsibility for their own actions and participation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Organisers shall not be liable for injuries, property damage or losses arising from participation except where caused by gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

4. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated for a specific event:

  • participants retain ownership of projects they create
  • participants remain responsible for ensuring they have the right to use any materials included in their projects
  • third-party APIs, SDKs and software remain subject to their respective licences

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of participant intellectual property to HackerX.

5. Information Sharing

Hackathons and community events are collaborative environments.

Participants are responsible for deciding what information they share with others.

HackerX cannot guarantee the confidentiality of information voluntarily disclosed during an event.

6. Photography, Video and Media

Events may be photographed or recorded.

By participating, you grant RemoteSkills Ltd permission to use photographs, video recordings and audio recordings containing your likeness for:

  • website content
  • social media
  • promotional materials
  • marketing campaigns
  • future event promotion
  • community reports

This permission is worldwide, royalty-free and perpetual unless prohibited by applicable law.

7. Sponsors

Certain events may involve sponsors.

Where applicable, sponsors may receive participant information relevant to the event, including registration details, submitted projects or professional profiles.

Sponsors may contact participants regarding opportunities connected to the event.

8. Prizes

Prize announcements are subject to verification.

The Organisers reserve the right to:

  • verify eligibility
  • correct administrative errors
  • modify prize allocations where necessary
  • disqualify participants for fraud or rule violations

All decisions made by the Organisers regarding prizes are final.

9. Communications

By registering for HackerX, participants agree to receive communications relating to:

  • event logistics
  • schedule updates
  • judging
  • prizes
  • future HackerX opportunities

Participants may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.

10. Cancellation and Changes

The Organisers may modify, postpone, relocate or cancel an event where necessary.

Reasonable efforts will be made to notify participants of material changes.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RemoteSkills Ltd and its partners, employees, volunteers and sponsors shall not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from participation in HackerX events.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by law.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws applicable to RemoteSkills Ltd's jurisdiction of incorporation, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
